What We Stand For

Math opens doors to opportunity, yet for many it has been a source of stress and self-doubt. At What The Math, we believe math should be approachable, empowering, and connected to real life. Our work is driven by a simple vision: to transform math from a barrier into a pathway for growth and confidence.

Meet the Founder

Bridget Steele, Ph.D.

With over 25 years of experience in mathematics education, I have dedicated my career to helping people move past math struggles and build lasting confidence. I founded What The Math to give teachers, learners, and parents practical strategies that make math clear, approachable, and stress-free.

“Thank you so much for the video! It helped fill in the gaps. I found it straightforward, personable, and not at all redundant to the other material. I was feeling a bit hopeless, but seeing you on screen helps me learn. I have Autism and ADHD, and your teaching makes a real difference. Thank you.”

My teaching style is known for being clear, encouraging, and personable, with a touch of humor that makes learning feel less intimidating. Learners consistently share that my ability to break down complex concepts gives them the confidence to keep going. My work is guided by a simple belief: everyone deserves to feel capable and confident in math, no matter where they start.
